Corey Culler Poems

Little boy likes to keep the beat,
so he learns to play the snare

Little boy's brother was sent to war,
...

I tread this path,
and I walk alone,
I step so soft,
on this road of stone
...

3.

For years I built this wall,
I gave it my all,
locked myself within,
don't feel right in my own skin
...

Drive me to the park,
left alone in the wooded dark,
you’re so far behind in my mirror,
you’re so far from being my hero
...

When the morning comes I won't be done,
forty minutes with a loaded gun,
just sitting here pondering escape,
watchin' agony slowly shape,
...

I'm giving up on this hell-bound life,
the burdens I bear, are breaking me,
suffocated, I'm lost in this strife,
I'm bearing this cross, thorns piercing my thoughts
...

I can't believe this is happening to me..

As the light dims down,
I find myself on the ground,
...

We turn ourselves inside out,
hiding from what we really are,
it takes a bullet,
to show what color we really are
...

In this world, sickening,
here is where my heart lies,
this fiendish plot, thickening,
this is where salvation dies,
...

Wicked angel, I see your thorns,
Wicked angel, I feel your scorn,
Wicked angel, so forlorn,
Wicked angel, heart so torn
...

11.

Looking this good, comes at a price,
(sanity, my sacrifice)
hours and hours, spent on reflection,
(giving myself a thorough inspection)
...

They come to kill,
and what have we to blame,
we brought it upon ourselves,
for bringing them so much shame,
...

You showed me what its like to feel loved,
when you broke my heart, I came undone,
I'm not a saint that was easy to tell,
but honey you're no angel
...

Look inside,
search for meaning,
hope for balance,
chance of malice,
...

It's Sunday,
such a cruel day,
living life like I've got nothing to lose
...

16.

You brought the fuel,
I brought the fire,
in these moments,
I give in to desire
...

This pencil lies so still,
the world it draws will never fill,
with these dreams I put to rest,
thoughts that lay on my chest
...

Corey Culler Biography

Hello, I feel that I should introduce myself, considering that you might like my poetry. My name is Corey Culler, and I am a native Ohioan. I was born in the city of Canton (The same place as Marilyn Manson) , and I like to write poetry as a hobby. I specialize in dark and rhyming poetry. I am an avid musician, playing the guitar, bass, and piano - although guitar is my primary instrument, and I'm told that I'm very good at it. But anyway, thanks for viewing my profile and I hope you enjoy my work.)

Drummer Boy

Little boy likes to keep the beat,
so he learns to play the snare

Little boy's brother was sent to war,
for a country that does not care

Little boy likes to play his drums,
playing softly as he hums

Little boy's brother came home today,
in a casket made of oak

Little boy tried to comprehend,
through the tears on which he choked

Little boy wanted to be like him,
his hero to the end,

Little boy signed up for war today,
going to defend,

Little boy kept the beat going strong,
through the cannons and the flame

Little boy braved this harsh world,
and his idol did the same,

Little boy kept on playing true,
right up until he died

Little boy came back home today,
over his body his mother cried

Caught in the stare of a loaded gun,
little boy never turned to run
