You ask me if I’m happy and genuinely content?
I’m the happiest I could possibly be.
Right here, right now, in this moment.
Then why, u ask, do I seem melancholy?

Creases on a crisp white sheet,
Clothing strewn in happy disarray.
In sleep tangled fingers firmly meet,
Express so much more than mere words can say.

A constant need for approval,
For validation that isn’t forthcoming.
Is praise key to survival?
Or is it just ego that it’s feeding.
