You've been there for me since I was born
Making me cheerful
Making me warm

I saw my heart as it fell on the floor.
Heavy with sorrow it could hold no more.
I saw my heart as it slowed its beat.
Filled with sadness it lay at my feet.

Look around
What's that you found?
A penny lying right on the ground.
That's where it will stay
...

So many springs have come and gone
and have been put to rest.
But my anticipation of the next one
always seem the best.

I have grown old
since you have gone
but in my mind you're young.
You left too soon
...

When I thought I had it
all figured out,
You came along and looked at me
and along came the doubt.

The colors of autumn start to fade
and as the leaves begin their fall
the grass is left with no shade.
It does not complain.
