They were sitting side by side, and talking about life.

He was weak, cold, fragile.
As he sat, he listened to the monotone sounds of the hospital,
While growing lonelier every day.

As a man headed for war,
He kissed his wife thrice,
Gave all his children hugs,
Then said final goodbyes.

It was a Saturday afternoon,
when she went out to play.
She enjoyed the sandbox,
Then swung the rest of the day.

Financially,
He was breaking.
