I often does think of the people i will never more meet
Many of them live in Duhallow, Sliabh Luachraand Millstreet
And many from Duhallow and Sliabh Luachra live far away
Among the many migrants of Ireland as i am today

I have been rather lucky in truth one can say
In some of the nice people i meet with every day
People who bring me some joy in truth of them i can say
With a cheerful hello as they go on their way

For smiling he never will win any prize
And that he is not popular is not any surprise
That he may not have good hearing well may be so
Since he seems stuck for an answer to anyone who to him says hello

You don't need a god to tell you what's right from wrong

This is something we are not in need of in the World of today
