My Sort Are Not Rare Poem by Francis Duggan

My Sort Are Not Rare

I am just a rhymer my sort are not rare
From far northern fields of badger and brown hare
But in this great and sunnyLand of the far south
No shortage of subject material for to write rhymes about

To write rhymes so easy seems true for to say
Born for to write rhymes with me life is this way
With rhyming words one who does love for to play
Of Nature new rhymes to write of every day

From Nature we learn and her lessons are free
Her beauty every day is everywhere around me
Yet the more i learn ofherthe more i realize
That of her i know little this is not a surprise

How nice for to hear the calls of the weerloos
The big dark brown parrots better known as yellow tailed black cockatoos
And the flute like songs so pleasant to hear
Of the magpies who sing every day of the year

It is true about Nature her wonders not few
And of her every day we do learn something new
She surely is one who has ways of her own
And so much about her remains as unknown

If i said i am a poet this would be a lie
But as a rhymer i will be until the day i do die
One who has seen many Seasons and is showing the wear of time
It has been many years since i was in my life's prime.
