Gavin Anderson Poems

A friend in need's
A friend indeed —
A faithful saying, true,
...

Some days my whole being aches
For days gone by —
Some sweet,
Others filled with longing for some still undisclosed future —
...

Mountain Highway lift me high
Where the treetops touch the sky
Then home to where the ocean sings
Of surf and stars, wind and wings.
...

My thoughts are sentimental;
My feelings — warm and true;
My mem'ries —sweet and loving,
Because they're all of you.
...

You have cause the Hawk to sing;
With your voice the forests ring.
Wild things cuddle in your arms;
At your Sid are no alarms,
...

The Good Shepherd bought me with His blood so dear;
At that great cost, my own slave's price, He drew near.
My Dear Shepherd found me ere I knew I'd strayed;
Midst Earth's beck'ning pleasures this one thing I prayed:
...

America, I weep for you,
My country and my home.
God shed His precious grace on thee;
How long then will you roam?
...

To Camlann towne and yonder faire,
My friend I bid thee make,
To joine me in the splendour there,
And in the fun partake.
...

I love the smell of your hair;
'Tis rich beyond compare.
And you ask me how I know —
It happened awhile ago …
...

Keep me satisfied, ever with Thee;
Craving, clinging, ever needful.
Yearning, let my complete desire be
To find in Thee my life, my whole.
...

This morning, as I slumbered,
A tune ran through my head;
A song that seemed unnumbered
Among the ones I'd read.
...

April's over, poems done —
Gone the flame of their setting sun!
Dull hope alone remains
Like some long-forgotten bottle
...

Would that I could fly,
As birds up in the sky.
High above the ground,
Lost in silent sound,
...

Guardian angels in the skies
Watching o'er me, and in their eyes
The love of God and mercy great,
That heals this world of pain and hate.
...

15.

From Earth's greenest pastures
To those greener still,
I'll follow my Shepherd
To heaven's high hill.

Gavin Anderson Biography

I'm terrible at deducing what genre/type of poems are the ones that I'm writing. So, if you are good at that, please comment. I started out by listing them all as 'free verse' — but then I realized that was just me not having a clue.)

The Best Poem Of Gavin Anderson

A Friend

A friend in need's
A friend indeed —
A faithful saying, true,

But who could pay
The price today
For such a friend as you.

And, as you're getting older
I fear our ways may part,
But now and for forever
You've a place within my heart.
