Rose O' My Heart Poem by Gavin Anderson

Rose O' My Heart

Rating: 5.0

My thoughts are sentimental;
My feelings — warm and true;
My mem'ries —sweet and loving,
Because they're all of you.

To you, my humble request,
As your pardon I pray,
That most patiently you bear
With my unfitted lay.

Ten million lovely poems
Would be a sum too few,
To tell the depths of love
That e'er I feel for you!

To behold your gladsome face
On a bright summer morn,
Brings visions of roses fresh,
Or of babies new born.

And fresh as a rosebud,
All sparkling with the dew,
Is the smile pressed on my heart
That remindeth me of you.

For, as opens a rose bud,
So unfastens my heart,
To reveal the hidden love;
Twas there from the start.

How sweet the savor of love;
How bitter the taste of pride.
For cause I have searched my heart,
But was not satisfied: —

For, how sharp like a thorn
Is the pain beyond thought,
That I felt when I did know
For me you were distraught.
