I sat in the window staring out at the starrless sky
I sometimes wonder, will I ever learn to fly?
Yet I know, even that is impossible for someone like me
How is it I'm alive, or how is it I can be?

You cast me aside, thinking you're too strong
In reality, we're all the same, the same empty shell
Just looking in your eyes, your sorrow is too hard to tell

If life was an ocean, I would be drowning
Outside I'm smiling, inside I'm dying
I'm a rat in a cage full of pent-up rage
I'm just a broken puppet on a black, dead stage

You follow your dreams more than needed
You idolize me, your family's advice unheeded
They say I'm like a serpent, you just don't realize
I promise I'll change the way you idealize

I'm living in a black and white monochrome world
A place where my own warm, rich blood isn't a beautiful red
My mind is black, my soul is white, my heart doesn't exist
In my head colors don't exist, surely I should be dead
