In the dark winter skies above the pitch
a new star shines bright for all to see
not just in his teammate’s hearts
but in our minds
...

There's no such thing as happy ever after
that only happens in fairy tales
silly stories of love and magic
that never could really happen
...

Tall chimneys thrust up brick red necks
their smoke black heads unblinking on the scene
for the chimneys have no eyes
no nose to smell out the waste
...

Something moves in the tall forest grass
the smooth skin shines in the sun
a skin with scales
of both brown and yellow
...

Until the book of my life is filled
I must keep writing it
almost like a diary
of what has happened in my existence so far
...

Winter will soon be over
then it will be spring
when all the hibernators awaken
and the birds return to sing
...

In the dark corn fields
the night is dark
there is no sound
not even the tawny owl
...

What is anger
a volcano bubbling inside
threatening to explode
the fury of the sun?
...

They line your lips and vocal chords
waiting to be spoken
ready to be set free
for anyone to hear
...

Would you walk with me through the park
would you enjoy listening to
the sound of birdsong
coming from the bushes beside the path
