Have you perhaps, held on too long
to the place you call home?
Have you let too much time slip by,
avoiding the unknown?
...
Despite it all I think we must admit when chips are down
that we have no real reason to complain.
Though every day we swim against the flow so not to drown,
we always have what it takes to sustain.
...
We had the way sent from above
then kept the parts we like,
and handed back the rest and now
we don't even think twice.
...
This ship that I've chosen to sail be proven swift and strong.
We've weathered much together, she and I.
So many days amidst the wind and storms we've travelled long
to cross this mighty ocean here beneath the endless sky.
...
I try to do well, keep the peace, find a way.
I try to be thoughtful in all that I say.
I'm willing to leave all my interests behind
to follow the Lord, so I'm shocked now to find
...
It's just a tiny flicker,
in my hand it seems to be
a single point of light
and yet it mesmerizes me.
...
Surely your turning
of things upside down
is not but the potter's clay.
You've done it with every
...
It seemed to me that time stood still,
the moment that we met.
I stumbled over words to say,
I never will forget.
...
A road begun, so distant.
A masterpiece, insistent.
Divided rolls at parting,
provided each a farthing
...
Awakened by song of long distant voice,
a beam of light cuts the abyss.
Serenades calling, the lost and the falling,
sneaking into lives gone far amiss.
...
I paused to stand and watch a man who had come to the road's divide,
my wonder soared as I watched his stare slowly shift from side to side.
He stood as if not noticing that many passed him by,
they moved without a second glance down the road most traveled by.
...
Whether there be kingdoms
or dominions on high in places unknown.
Whether it be heaven or earth.
Whether it be it principalities or thrones.
...
Sandstorm churning in my mind tonight,
driven by the wind of change,
and I know… it's not that easy.
Drove a million miles and it is all the same,
...
The morning air to which I have awoken
whispers softly upon me, the subtle signs of change.
For the aroma of distant fire has joined the newly fallen snow
...
Long pressing bears the weight
of the falling world around me.
Over tinsel days yet hollow years
has the growing spiral of downward fall
...
Waking I find another chill encrusted day awaits me,
where I shall walk alone in step of time,
to the blighted rhythm of what must be
and the looming shadows of what might have been.
...
What do the heavens think of me?
When God looks down what does he see?
What things run through his mind and fill his heart?
...
Why should I try to make sense of it all
when thus far all endeavors have failed?
Why should I struggle to win in this world
when each chance that I've had I've assailed?
...
At last, I pause at eventide to take rest
amidst the shadows of the setting sun.
And as I watch I cannot help but ponder…
...
I love to create and see where inspiration takes me. I have spent my life living with an eye open for those little things that can lead to the next idea, invention, book song... or poem. Depart
Have you perhaps, held on too long
to the place you call home?
Have you let too much time slip by,
avoiding the unknown?
It's hard not to be scared of change,
it happens naturally.
The risk of taking chances, yes
it's pure anxiety.
But staying in this place is death,
you're meant to rise and grow.
Your heart is meant to be your guide,
trust it and just let go.
If you stay here, you'll just get old.
Your dreams you'll never find.
So, take this chance, depart…
and leave this old place far behind.
Don't try to pour me into a mold. I'm not made out of plaster... I'm made out of stone.
