Jihene Khammassi Poems

Was I a subject of your desire?
A mixture of cold madness and melting fire?
What a hybrid satire!
...

Filthy sadness
Piercing Anguish
Into madness
Cannot but relinquish
...

I lighted candles,
Burnt incence,
And waited for you.
I took my needles
...

In its emptied world
sat my self
on the verge of death,
on the edge of illness.
...

My mind is sinking in ardent illusion! ?
breaking the status quo and its profusion
Seemed vital, then became a sheer delusion.
How could I have drawn such a conclusion,
...

Black cats
Dark streets
A lone shadow
In silence fleets
...

Will you give me a goodbye kiss
and wish me God's protection and bless?
Will you offer me some red flowers
and wait with me seconds and hours?
...

Amidst the tormenting turmoil of thy love
I am but a wandering, wingless dove.
The powers of the trucks emasculate my hopes.
A haunting image! Thee grab my focus.
...

A cupid appeared to me,
When the clock's hands
Were about to clap 'midnight',
And when I was about
...

Intermingling tears
Fight their way along her cheeks.
Her reddened veins
Have daunted glaring eyes
...

14.

Everyday a new poem
Everyday a new world
Everyday a new expression
...

My empty world cries:
'Vacant spaces'.
My sun dies.
Struggle, defeat and cries.

Jihene Khammassi Biography

Jihene Khamassi My name is Jihene Khammassi. I was born in June 16,1987, in Tunis (Tunisia) . I obtained my baccalaureate certificate in 2006, and I have been studying English in the Higher Institute of Human Sciences at Tunis since 2007. I am currently a fourth year student, and my branch is Academic Purposes, which encompasses literature (novel, drama, and poetry) , civilization (American and British) , linguistics, translation, critical theory, and advanced writing. During the summer of 2009, I was among the privileged elites who attended an English language training at the Language Village Nabeul. At the intellectual level, I am zealous about reading novels and plays. My favorite writers are Ken Follet, Tennessee Williams, Charles Dickens and many others. When I was at school I displayed a special skill at writing short plays, which my teachers rejoiced a lot. I am now a non-fiction writer. Accordingly, writing triggers and refurbishes my dormant will to write about the Other, through whom I perceive myself, and for the Other, in whom I see a potential critic and broadminded addressee.)

My Micro-World

In the squalid slums of my heart
A faraway soul hovers about
Tough, pure, dauntless and stout
