When life's pressures invade my space,
I escape to my secret place.
No one knows where that might be,
it's not on land, nor air or sea.
...

All prospects were grim to say but the least,
my short life would end just after the feast.
Invited to dine by King Hugo De'vear,
I knew the kind offer was not that sincere.
...

The lottery of life holds great mystery,
no one knows what's coming, or what's going to be.
We can't decide our parents, or in which land we are born,
it may start in a ghetto, or a crown you may adorn.
...

I saw you in my dreams last night,
even there we had to fight.
I see you when I close my eyes,
and can't forgive you for your lies.
...

I Gazed upon a withered tree,
That sang a soured song,
It's acrid melody,
'My love will soon be gone.'
...

Oh lovely flower I've watched you grow,
in the wind, the rain and snow.
How beautiful you are to me,
ever by your side I want to be.
...

As the Olympiad approaches,
nervous athletes worried coaches.
No one sees the work that's done,
in the hope of medals won.
...

I knew a man called Isaac Clay,
who lived by night and slept by day.
He fed on fresh human blood,
like any decent vampire would.
...

Twas nursery days when we first met,
A tiny terror, you teachers pet.
I threw A book, began to cry,
you held my hand and with A sigh, you smiled at me,
...

Twas a close hot summers night,
toward the middle of July,
whilst out on a midnight flight,
I met Baldrock the Dragonfly.
...

With great applause you win the fight,
and hold the winning belt above your head.
Alone I sit in my defeat, my preparation incomplete,
awaiting patronizing comments that I dread.
...

I was dozing in the park today,
dreaming of what might come my way,
when suddenly with great dismay,
thoughts of yesterday came to prey.
...

I am seventy years old now,
and can't help looking back,
on the happy days of childhood,
before my face began to crack.
...

I am lost without you, I can't find my way,
but I know you'll return when night turns to day.
As dawn breaks you show your face,
to wallow in daylight, its sights to embrace.

My Secret Place

When life's pressures invade my space,
I escape to my secret place.
No one knows where that might be,
it's not on land, nor air or sea.

My secret place is a wonderland,
it holds no fears I understand,
that nothing in the world can find me,
here with my thoughts and dreams beside me.

I wonder in a field of dreams,
that feed my open mind it seems,
with all the riches of success,
the answers to questions I must address.

Then swimming in a pool of thoughts,
understanding past lost battles fought,
I realize the strength in me,
the courage, honour and dignity.

I can reach most any goal,
if I put in my heart and soul.
Stand up against any man,
this is who I really am.

All this I have found in my secret place,
where I am given so much space,
when I am searching I might find,
the rhyme and reason of any kind.

My secret place, no one can find.
That secret place lays in my mind.
