Rain in cooling swathes of water
Drenches the grass a shining wet
Canopies of leaves dripping at every corner
A parade of umbrellas, their owners in a fret

Miles of paddy fields catch the eye,
shimmering golden in the heat of the midday sun.
Farmers in straw hats with buffalo in tow,
crisp fresh air I have missed for so long.

If trees can talk,
even a mindless rumble.
Everyone will gawk,
but they remain stiff and sombre.

The hustle and bustle at the airport
Some rushing, frantically searching for passport
Mothers’s tearful goodbyes,
Trying their best not to cry

Warm sand, soft beneath my feet,
dusk, purplish against a vast night sky.
A crescent moon alluring and shy,
watching waves tirelessly nudging the shore.
