Last Goodbye Poem by Kwai Chee Low

Last Goodbye

Rating: 5.0

She smiled at him, a tired tender smile.
Knowing the end is near,
and suffering drawing to a close.
Yet unwilling to leave him,
alone in this harsh world.

He could no longer cry.
Tears his constant companion,
now have dried.
Memories linger,
lying in her bosom, listening to her lullabies,
playing hide and seek, cops and robbers.
Most nights her body racked in pain,
suffering quietly not to wake him.

He held her hand tightly,
as her last moments came.
And she was gone,
becoming another star in the cold night sky.
He shall not be alone at nightfall.

Thank you K.Yee. It is indeed a deep grief when a loved one departs but it is something that all of us as humans, have to face, when the time comes. That's why life has its sorrows yet also much joy, and poets have so much to write on life.
