How could you have grown so tall!
You were just a tiny cone
Quietly pointing towards the sky.
Were you trying to tell me that
...

You came, you left
So fast, so swift
Like the lightning
It's here, it's gone
...

I await the wind
To blow me from where I am
Drop me with enough force and sound
To wake me up from a prolonged sleep
...

A tiny speck
It shines and twinkles
In the dark, immense sky.
The nomads in the desert,
...

My son,
What thoughts race through
My mind when I see you?
What do I feel when I see you?
...

Bamboo

How could you have grown so tall!
You were just a tiny cone
Quietly pointing towards the sky.
Were you trying to tell me that
That was where you were headed?
Do you still know from where you came?

Your countless leaves, they are so thin,
When the wind gently blows,
They murmur, whisper, and flutter.
And when the wind carries them away,
They fly, soar, free and uncaring...
Leisurely, they will caress the ground.

You bow and bend with the angry wind,
But you do not break, you stand your ground.
Until the wind gets tired, weakens, and departs.
Though scarred and shaken, still you remain erect,
Many of your delicate leaves may have fallen,
But your spirit is undiminished.
