Laura Kae Poems

A fire, so warm and intoxicating.
It’s light ever rising, illuminating each leaf,
Causing every one to dance in its light.
The night, though still there, is calm and peaceful.
...

Together, alas, but still alone.
The moon is full, but my soul is empty.
In what do I seek thee, to what depth?
My purpose lies in the horizon,

The past, so relentless, so unforgiving, scars my tender flesh.
Every new day, it leaves deep wounds in my back,
Never allowing me to forget.
When will daybreak seek my face?
...

On the dawn of a new day,
And the eve of the night before never leaves me.
Will the new day shed enough light to make the shadows cower?
Will I find rest in this new light?

Today was the day I went to that place where we once were,
And I sat in the place where you once sat,
And let my tears fall in the place where your hands once touched.
And, oh, how I mourned you.
...

and let it's contents spill out onto paper,
piece by piece,
then and only then,
...

The Evening Glow

A fire, so warm and intoxicating.
It’s light ever rising, illuminating each leaf,
Causing every one to dance in its light.
The night, though still there, is calm and peaceful.
I am standing at the edge of the earth,
The open air holding a promise of a new beginning.
Fear has turned into exhilaration,
My life now unfolding with more purpose.
I will embark on this journey with renewed hope and delight,
And the weight of the world lifted off of my shoulders.
