lee robin thomas Poems

women, those objects of objection
its a mind worth loving
it isn't breasts
it isn't legs
...

the drunks are thirsty
eager to consume more than beer
eager to consume themselves from each other
the drunker they get the more they make no sense
...

there are three powers
three energies that exist among others
the silent watchers see you use them
nothing goes unnoticed
...

quickly
you must choose
between right and wrong

if you get away with it
...

uplift this bound community
bound by systems of wealth and non-wealth
allow people to struggle less
allow people to have options
...

attachment is a sign of someone weak
if you suckle at my teat you are a child
and I should treat you as one
...

alone is truth for a man
alone and still and silent
not doing just being
not intoxicated
...

a bright morning
the cool breeze and sun
yet I feel between darkness
and your letter hasn't come
...

thinking is for brave soldiers
escaping mundane duty
though many of us are forced onto the battle field
yet only with our mirror
...

the echoey organ plays
a young woman sits at the instrument in the church alone
she waits for her lover to find her
she reads
...

then from above came the whitest light
the guards must be on duty
the silent watchers

Women Who Read Poems

women, those objects of objection
its a mind worth loving
it isn't breasts
it isn't legs
its their minds

can you have it all

and the scenesters
yuck
why would you need such an active social life to be happy
connections
rejections
if you do the rejecting its fine
I don't want a scenester

how can poets think they need some vast array of hello, seen blah blah?
to be ok

this obsession with cafe
being places
the cities

and reading out poems
I don't think its necessary at all
I don't like stages
I have been on them
everyone looking at you
what does that achieve

when I read a poem I want to hear it alone
I don't want some overly emotional poet screaming or crying his/her poem at me

get a poetry book
get a sylvia plath book
go to the park
take coffee
and enjoy

and I have met a woman that likes poetry
now that's something
but you don't need company to enjoy poems
you don't need to sign your book for people and answer little questions
in fact that takes away the beauty

most people don't like poems maybe
and most that write poems are terrible
maybe I am too

but women still take my glance at first
and so does a poem
