Loveth Afuye Poems

Homeless, they are not seeing me.
Some stop and stare in silence
They don't have the word to say, but when
A child reaches out, her mother pulls away
...

Come centuries ago, our words were worthy
It held life and accompany respect
Then, poets were like rockstars like we stan BTS
widely celebrated for their insight
...

Love is a song
Our souls are the rhythm
Without any part of us
It's only a lyrics
...

Life isn't a bed full of roses
if it was
you'll find beggars on horses
It may seem all sweet and cozy
...

Arise, Ye Nigerians
let us dine with our past and
prepare the future of tomorrow
let us hunt corruption
...

Shadow was laid to rest before Rex
Sorry, i have amnesia
I think its Rex before Shadow
But does it matter?
...

I often question my existence
For my birth lacks evidence
No pictures to showcase
And memories of witness had long efface
...

The beautiful sorrow that tears souls apart

Until feelings slowly depart
...

Future, a peek view into it
a lost smile.
present, the reality
hard up life.

Homelessness

Homeless, they are not seeing me.
Some stop and stare in silence
They don't have the word to say, but when
A child reaches out, her mother pulls away
'Do not touch that man! ' its his choice to stay.

Homeless, Out in the street with no bed
Nor a place to lay my wobble head
The pennies they drop is all i pray
But some look away filled with guilt
Thinking how i end up this way.

Homeless, Out in the cold
All i have is a tattered shirt with no replacement
From sleeping on the floor, I'm in pain
But its nothing compare to the ice cold rain
Nor homelessness, hopelessness and loneliness.

Aging is like flipping a note book, you won't know until you get to the last page.
