Distance Poem by Loveth Afuye

Distance

Rating: 5.0

The beautiful sorrow that tears souls apart

Until feelings slowly depart

Saying goodbyes with a heavy heart

In nothing but a painful pact.

It leaves your half on the other end

To an unknown land, yet a long end

While they have crossed the bar

Or with you but miles afar.

It leaves you wanting to join them

Forgetting the miles away from 'em

Meanwhile connection is lost

You get nothing but lust.

You'll be shattered

And left tattered

Because your loved one is away

On a journey in a land far-away.

Will they ever come back?

You're left with the memories of the day they packed

Your heart is troubled

For you don't know if they are in trouble.

Days went by and years rolls on

You're still there keeping the faith on

As your loved one is on a journey

Which might not be as sweet as honey.

Slowly, their faces begins to fade

And their fragrance, now a facade

You begin to clear your mind

In preparation for a peaceful end.
