MARY PAGDATI Poems

I live amongst angels, the kind that Heaven sends.
Only here on earth, we call them friends.
If you're like me, you'll know when you pray,
For answers are received from day to day.

Our future holds many secrets along the paths of life,
Like people who will shed their passions, their hearts and strife.
My son Dafnis, will always be an oyster pearl deep in my heart,
As he is to you, your love, your life, ‘till death do us part'.
...

Bow not thy head unto the earth, where tears doth fall to dust;
‘tis shadows only that go by, none worthy of thy trust;
but to the sky lift up thine eyes, where voices laugh and sing;
where all of Heaven calls thy name, and hearkens unto Him.

When you look at me my Darling;
Do you see the lady of your dream or a mere fantasy?
Distant, so far to reach;
Hair falling at the shoulders, caressing, seductively.
...

Each waking morning, I’d follow their enchanting songs,
Chip-chirping, flapping their wings calling, “Come fly along”.
Looking to the Heavens my heart would cry out,
Watching their outstretched wings fluttering about.
...

The day of your Baptism marks the beginning of a path;
His light has been shed upon you - His Holy Spirit rests in your heart.
So walk in peace my little Nephew, along this predestined path;
For in His Holy Book your name has been written - in this world you have a part.
...

I searched and searched the world around
In hope of faith and meaning
Beyond closed doors and busy streets
Along smoky alleys I sat weeping;
...

When I think of you Cousin…

I see the Lilies of the valley
valiant but with a fragrance so dear,
...

We’re told not to covet our neighbour’s possessions,
But we take out loans on hasty decisions.

To have that one thing, whatever it takes,
...

The one thing I want for Christmas…?
Oh that's so easy for me.
As it doesn't come wrapped in paper
Or placed under the Christmas Tree.
...

My Christmas wreath is simple and brown,
Made of the woody things I joyfully found.
I tied little pine-cones upon the green,
And added holly berries in between.
...

Christmas comes but once a year, to remind us of that Light;
The star that shone in Bethlehem that very Special Night.
And though it stood above a manger - humble and forlorn,
It signalled unto us a prophecy - the ‘Prince of Peace' is born.
...

The doorbell rang, who could it be?
I dashed to open, but there was no one but me.
No friends or carollers, no Santa or sleigh;
Gone was my smile as I stood in the doorway.
...

Imagine a treasure that grows grander and more sublime,
None more precious than grandkids, the wealth of a life-time.
And as I grow older and my anxieties pass me by,
I'll count my blessings in the abyss of the night sky.
...

On this special day may you be filled with blessings,
Joy and peace with close friends and loved ones;
Contentment in all that life brings.
You were chosen and given a mission,

I Live Amongst Angels

I live amongst angels, the kind that Heaven sends.
Only here on earth, we call them friends.
If you're like me, you'll know when you pray,
For answers are received from day to day.
You needn't look upon a star,
They watch over you, wherever you are.
With their chants, you'll know they're near,
Stopping along the way, to wipe off a tear.

They'll come and go to each beckoning call,
Lifting you up when you stumble and fall.
And when you're afraid, they'll shed glowing light,
To let you know that you'll be alright.
Take heed and quieten your busy mind,
For in their tender whisper, peace and comfort you will find.
Don't take them for granted, just 'cause they're there,
Love them and tell them how much you care.
