(My first attempt at a sonnet)

darkness surrounds me and consumes my world
i try so hard to break free, so hard to fight
...

Eternal flames burn my flesh
I scream for release in any way
in agony I flail and thresh
too much pain even to pray
...

Take a stand for what you believe
or the darkness will always win
know your truth, others deceive
they will try to turn you on your kin
...

Hell is not a place underground
it's the words left unsaid
to the people in their mounds
the people who now are dead
...

Where do the lost ones go
Where can their souls find their peace
Swinging on a rope to and fro
Why is it them who seek release
...
