Nina Bej Poems

Another day completed,
Another night ahead.
Concerns not yet defeated,
And hope, a corpse long dead.
...

She looked on with accusing eyes:
She contemplated truth.
Her dreams, ambitions, vague perceptions,
He turned into soot.
...

I'm caving under the pressure
The pressure to be perfect
No mistakes, no mistakes
I have to be flawless
...

I wrote this awhile ago; it is dedicated to the victims of the Virginia Tech tragedy.

She sees all these pictures on the wall
She knows how easily they can fall

This poem is still under revision, so suggestions are welcome. Right now it's just an expression of thought. It was originally a song, so it might sound a little incomplete in poem form.

It's so easy. Sneak out, start the car
Hit the Wal-Mart and you've gone too far
...

We do all these gallant deeds
We write our own history
If I held the pen,
I'd rewrite the end.

The One Star Of Courage

Another day completed,
Another night ahead.
Concerns not yet defeated,
And hope, a corpse long dead.
Incarnated malice
Lurks within the night;
While hope's upset balance
Is nature's only blight.
Someday, the Heavens that He rules
Will diminish into rubble—
But mankind's hands and endless tools
Will fabricate a double.
I gaze into the starless sky
And hear Him in the wind.
Perhaps this is the grand goodbye;
Perhaps, here, it begins.
A vague sensation heartens me
As one bright star emerges.
The one-star sky unfolds to be
Forgotten hope—and courage.
