Remembering good times and having fun

The diggers looked around
As they marched over the ground
Of the Menin Gate at Ieper town
And their chiseled names shone brightly down

The people came to Alberton
To honour the man whose life was won
For he played the Port Adelaide way
And Russell Ebert won our hearts we say
...

On his Mum's lap Charlie sits so quietly
Cuddling close with a lick for her occasionally
At other times he is together with Lucy
Exploring their world and running free
...

The gentle breeze carries you to me
In scented freedom drifting easily
And your soft voice makes promises so clear
That are whispered lowly in my ear

Standing up in the back seat
Out with my family complete
Just seeing over my father's shoulder
Being 8 or 9 years no older
...

The journey had lasted several years
Whilst the crew slept together with no fear
Through space they accelerated
To an earth like planet they anticipated

Just teach me a piece of reality
Here and now is something to see
