A man loved me once
When I was tired and sick
But I did not know it
I drove to work everyday
...

It was late in the evening
As I worked in a fevered rushing way
Flowing in sync with the rain
The clapping storm that filled the day
...

There is a door to my dreams
That I always leave open
I call out your name often
Longing for an embrace unbroken
...

It is day time on the streets of Saigon
The sun hits the pavement
Striking hot and scorching with desire
Their love like fire rests hidden in their casements
...

The eyes speak a language of their own
A secret script whispered to those who listen
And so I pay such careful attention
To the subtle green glisten as they speak
...

I remember the day I first saw him
The tall man with green eyes
Our eyes met and I fell in love
It will remain that way until my demise
...

A Man Loved Me Once

A man loved me once
When I was tired and sick
But I did not know it
I drove to work everyday
And with my children I would play
Plastering a smile upon my face
I think now, with such sorrow
How late I discovered his love
And how far I have fallen
From his good grace
How long will I make this mistake
Remembering my fathers hand hitting hard upon my face
Letting the memory bruise me
And ruining love
