(1)shadows Of Certain Defeat Poem by Uriah Hamilton

(1)shadows Of Certain Defeat

I've wandered through life
like a lonely vagabond
searching for some concept
of pure beauty, a soul to believe in.

I desired to discover
one woman to cherish,
one lady above others to honor.

Someone to defend
regardless of who she becomes
or who she's been.

To remain loyal to her
if she was a thief
or an heiress to an empire.

But time draws
close to the end
and every definition of beauty
that I have entertained
has proved elusive

and I have never even been
loyal or believing
in or toward myself.
