1945 Poem by Terio Ruiz

1945

She was born in 1945 and it was great
She put a tattoo called hope
On people around the world
This woman knows six languages very fluently
She should speak about what
Goes on in South Los Angeles in English
Because a lot goes on
Kids grow up with a few American dollars
And get taught a little bit too less in school
Crime is the kids War on Poverty
Drinks and protection on the streets are easy to get
Some get out, but many stay behind
Is she going to stop this?
After all, how much of this human rights bull
Is true if dollars determine it?
It’s easy to go somewhere else and preach morality
But can ethical feats be displayed in South Los Angeles?
Why has America advanced technologically
While the hood is still filled with troubles?
The little girl that was born in 1945
Is over 60 years old now!
However, is she wise enough to help the ones born
In the brown and black ghetto of Los Angeles?
Maybe she is or maybe she is not
But this does not mean that there are no alternatives
The next best way is the only way
That was ever presented to the South Los Angeles table
The way is Jesus Christ the Son of God!
With him in the mix, the brown and black ghetto
Does not need that old lady
He is the Savior who will make South Central
A paradise if the babies that live there cry out to him.

Psalm 72: 12 - For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no-one to help.
