A Poem A Day

Rookie (Lebanon / Beirut)

2005 / 06 / 28 - Shy - Poem by A Poem A Day

I've always wondered why
Some people tend to be shy
Is it a helpless fear of society,
A deep human despise
Or do they like to silently
Observe men and criticize?

Or perhaps are they some know-it-all nerds
Who have learned a million books by heart
But who lose all of their words
When it's time to play their part?

Or do they see a human as a beast
With sharp fangs and a deadly appetite
Eager to attack and bite
And then, on their corpse, feast?

Or maybe do they see him as a dice
With multiple faces that come and go?
Or do they think people are a puppet show,
Funny to watch once, boring to watch twice
But definitely ridiculous to be in?
