#232 Your World Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#232 Your World

I breathe but I don’t breathe your air.
I’m compassionate but I don’t care.
I speak but I not your dialect.
I’m here but tricky to detect.
I’m not part of your world.

I sing but to a different tune.
Come night, I praise a different moon.
I swim but to a different shore.
I enter but through another door.
I’m not part of your world.

I see you come, I see you go.
I know some things you’ll never know.
I watch you bend, I watch you break.
I notice you slip, fall and mistake.
But I’m not part of your world.

I love but with a matchless heart.
I protest wars but never start.
I cry but release different tears.
I listen but with unique ears.
I’m not part of your world.

In my world I’m wild and free,
Where I choose my own destiny,
And my love is always there with me.
Therefore, I swear I’ll never be
Part of your dreadful world.
