#238 My Song Will Still Remain Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#238 My Song Will Still Remain

Your words don’t define me.
Your opinions are not mine.
I’m not just who it is you see,
I’m not defined so easily.
You can judge me if you want
Hate me, that’s just fine.
Be brutal, be rash and blunt,
You won’t even scratch my front.

You can attack me with questions,
Still you’ll never know.
Bombard me with facts and puns,
I’ll never cave to your verbal stuns.
You can try and patronize,
But it’s a futile blow.
You can believe all your own lies,
It won’t change my ego or size.

Tell the world I’m insane,
Give it all you’ve got,
But your efforts will be in vain,
My song will still remain.
And in the end you’ll find,
I’m deeper than you thought.
And you’ll remain dumb and blind,
Only a little bit more refined.
