238. The Last Evening Poem by Dipankar Sadhukhan

238. The Last Evening

Rating: 5.0

Last evening I was on the way to my home.
Then few of my past memories
Stirred my mind.
I was thinking of a special one
Who is now far away from me
But too close to my heart.

I passed fifteen years
Since I met her for the last time
But it seemed to me
As if I passed only fifteen days.
I recalled how we spent together
The happy moments of love.

When we would spend hours,
Even in summer we would find spring.
When we would whisper secretly,
Even in winter we used to find autumn.
With the warmth of her love
The lotus would bloom in my heart every time.

When darkness used to surround me
Her sacred love would vanish the darkness
From my mind and heart.
With her company
In summer or in winter
I would feel ecstatic.

The string of our love
Was torn by a tempest
And we were thrown
Into the sea of uncertainty.
Then we reached
The two opposite poles of life.

When I reached home
I heard my cell ringing.
It's an unknown number.
I received the call with hesitation
And became surprised
To hear the known voice.

She called me, 'I am your...'
I said,
'Time changed our habitat;
Time changed our age
But it could not change your voice
Which I heard fifteen years ago.'

Then we talked for few minutes.
She requested me to meet her.
I said I will never....
As you are shining the sky of my heart
Like the glittering star
And every time I feel so happy.....
