#245 Photo Albums Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#245 Photo Albums

Memories are like pictures in
The photo albums of your brain.
Although you can’t go back again,
Images of the past remain.

Some of good times, some bad as well,
And events from different ages,
Are developed and forever dwell
Pasted upon its pages.

Like Christmas’ and birthdays,
Amusing nights at the State Fair,
Camp outs, funerals and school plays
Are all preserved in there.

Along with faces of old friends,
Family members who have passed,
Outdated hairstyles and trends
And your youth that flew so fast.

Sadly, in time some pictures fade,
The colors begin to wane,
The edges become worn and frayed
And they’re pushed back in your brain.

With the photo albums in your head,
The past is never far.
Though the past is gone, it’s not quite dead
But a part of who you are.
