What a day! Do you know what happened today?
Yes-Today was my birthday!
I was so happy-dancing, laughing and hearty.
But when my mother switched on the television
I heard- the most painful news-the Reality
The great man, the emancipator.
The jewel of the Indian Nation
Who had said, "You have to dream before your dreams come true"
To all young people like me and you-
Who have forgotten to dream!
IS NO MORE......
He was genius, a great man, a great thinker, a scholar
He told the youth not to be scared-to tread new roads! He made them realize that only through their path of difficulty will they get sweet success…
He didn't want a holiday on his death
Instead he wanted the youth to have an extra working day
Yet! -see how we moan, make grief,
Just because he left the realm of human consciousness
To be with God Almighty.
He wanted us to, "Look at the sky" and realize that, "We are not alone" that-
"That the whole universe is friendly to us"
He wanted us to have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, an unbeatable tenacity And a single minded devotion to our goal
He wanted people like me-the youth to be fearless, to be different, imaginative and….
Wanted us to contribute to the welfare of this beautiful, vast and diverse Nation
He was, "THE MISSILE MAN OF INDIA"
The 11th president of India
He was Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
And guess what -now we will refer to him in past tense!
For he has left this mortal body of his
And his soul has moved on….
But he will live on for thousand years
Etched in our memories
In our hearts…
