#294 Don’t Go Away Poem by Jimmie Arrington

#294 Don’t Go Away

I’m rather far from perfect,
I’m a flaw after a blunder.
I’m frequently incorrect.
How we ever met is still a wonder.
But may I speak before you stray,
Please, don’t go away.

You never wanted to be “we”.
You never asked for a ring.
You never swore that you loved me.
You never promised a thing.
I know you never promised you’d stay,
But please, don’t go away.

We may never have it easy.
We might never stay on trail.
We will never just agree.
And in the end we might just fail,
But Amy, what more can I say?
Please, don’t go away.
