He wanted to be her knight in shining armour
but it wouldn't work out that way
for he was too lazy in social circles
and didn't know how to treat a princess

His sword was blunt and notched
cuirass was poorly maintained
didn't have the skills to defend her honour
leaving her to fight back herself

Until at last one day he met a blacksmith bold
who taught him how to repair his gear
and the basics of social etiquette
to win his maiden fair

Day and night he worked hard
following his new trainer's rules
not just on the outside but inside to
until he was the warrior he should be

He wanted to be her knight in shining armour
and she to be his bride
now he is a noble prince
who knows how to treat his queen
