50 People - 2 Poem by Raj Dronamraju

50 People - 2

I remember Theodore Pierce as a man out of time
Who occasionally lost control of himself in public
And punished his liver with too many liters

And I remember Theodore Pierce as a carnival sideshow
And the Mars rover sending back pictures from the surface of the red planet
And his too loud opinions on that in a cracking voice

And I remember Theodore Pierce not as a sensitive soul
But as the birdman of Pismo Beach
Fly, prostate cancer treatments, fly

And I remember Theodore Pierce as the man who married a woman who already had two young children
But still felt she was a prize
and carried all three of their pictures in his wallet

And I remember Theodore Pierce as a bad comb over
The jokes on him
But he's too smart to know it
