50 People - 50 Poem by Raj Dronamraju

50 People - 50

50

How long have I been asleep?
It's dark but I can hear voices in the living room downstairs
Downstairs, I find the lights are on and the room is full of people

People I have known or known of but they are different
This is not really the calculus of space
The filling in, that mass equals reality
These are rather how I pictured some folk
What I remembered of my encounters with them
Not perhaps how they were or are as actual flesh and blood human beings

Have we met before?
Everybody's talking
But I'm not really focusing on "you are who you say you are"

Have we met before?
Successful communication of the key points of your personality
Successful packaging of you as summary
