7.We Are Like The Sea, Sawara! - Poem by Krishnarasa Seshadri
This restless sea separates us.
I have no means to get to you,
There’s no Ram-Sethu* to your heart.
Worse, you have no will.
On that amber shore, in the yonder land
You frolic, you laugh, alienated from me,
From me- not from my thoughts;
For its not only some alien shore you roam,
Also in my heart, somewhere deep, deep within,
Your footsteps growing deeper in time.
Says who Time heals?
We are like the sea, you and I.
Vast, tenacious, and living.
But you are the wave, Sawara*,
You move on, and on with the sway of the wind.
And I am the water…..
The wave moves on, but the water does not.
Thus, you move on and away,
Giving my silent waters a music,
Making me the ocean.
Everything now culminates in me
The Sun sets in me, the Moonlight sleeps on my lap,
Rivers surrender and mountains sleep at my feet as sand.
But where are you?
