Life can be like a railway
as you thunder down the track
burning up your life as you proceed
with no hope of ever reversing

Every major event is a station
where people come and go
some just leave without looking back
never to board again

Every decision is a set of points
steering you one way or another
some end up taking the route with the best views
others just end up in a siding

We pull our memories behind us in trucks
some of them are heavy and slow us down
yet we can't just discard them as we wish
and so they add to the increasing load

Yes life can be just like a railway
as your pistons pump and strain
no one knows what will happen to your train
when you come to the end of the line
