87 First Street The Troy Jewish Community Center Poem by Shalom Freedman

87 First Street The Troy Jewish Community Center

A sudden longing and poignant sadness
Thinking of the Troy Jewish Community Center
87 First Street

And its world in my childhood
A home away from home
That time of life when young and just beginning
Seeing the young faces of people now mostly gone

How sad life is when we long to return to what was and what we were
And know we never can.
