A Backer Poem by Gio Masserati

A Backer

You think I don't know
Why's?
A backer

My distant
Once cherished friend just go
How'd you think I'm so stupid?
Stab me in the back
Again?
Your envy Your lust
Your husband's not enough?
Just threw away all trust
For a fantasy in the sheets
With a man I had you meet

Thanking God it's not my wedding day
When will I stop having to pray
For friends that I can trust behind me
And men who keep their word and body

I see it in their eyes
Stars for all my guys
You make a deal with money
A twisted sugar honey
You breed the color of greed
Green are you with envy

To take a best friends dream
I'm used to this it seems

Blood wash away my hurt
Fill my wound with dirt
Burnt Roses from my friendships
Won't bloom with crafty spores
God why did you create me
To love among the thorns?
