A Bitter Old Man Poem by Francis Duggan

A Bitter Old Man

A rhymer for more than a four decade span
I have been told by some I am a bitter old man
In some of the things in written words I do say
That I look at humanity in a negative way

Add to this my lack of literary success
That the literary critics I fail to impress
Since my sympathies are with those who in life have failed to succeed
And those on the side of life's losers are losers indeed

If with them in thinking I have nothing to share
Why should I bother to worry what those who think differently say of me or for that matter care
I only stand up for what in I believe
If I said any different my inner thoughts I would only deceive

To side with life's so called losers I am one of those who did choose
Seems hard to applaud life's big winners when so many for them to win had to lose
The gap is increasing in the social divide
The wealthy growing wealthier and the poor growing poorer in Countries Worldwide

A rhymer for more than a four decade span
I have been described as a bitter old man
For those doing it financially tough I support in words every day
And some do not like me for what I have to say.
