A Bored Poets Defination Of Life Poem by Troy Clark

A Bored Poets Defination Of Life

Rating: 5.0

I’ve read many upon many poems
Most of them were about life
Only a couple caught my eyes
And forced me to hold my tongue

They, as in most always started
In a rather peculiar, boring way
Life is-
My life is-
Our life is-
And those go on and on
Till the reader finishes
Or simply adverts its eyes
To a more interesting figurine

Here are a couple more examples
On how people describe life
In the way of art-which is poetry
It’s full of challenges
It’s boring, it’s amazing
Precious, pointless, unpredictable
I sit here now, using some computer
Brand I have never heard of-the OPTIQUEST
Just to tell you that life is everything, and nothing

See? Isn’t that a better way to explain it
Its’ Quick, simple, smooth, delicate
It reminds of a balding man!
No offense kind sir’s, it’s only an example

Now, let’s end this pointless exploration
I will now use the very examples that I
Criticized to describe life, only to make those
That have so far taken offence to this, better-
In hopes that it will make me a better person

Life is creation, life is destruction
Life is beauty, sanguine, and fresh
(Reminded me of a salad right there)
It’s fun! It’s boring! It’s fragile-
Yet at the same time as solid as a rock
(Which makes since really, earth being that and all)
Life is about religion
Sacrifice and war
Colors: red, white and blue
About discovery, about technology
About woman, men, children
It’s about your cat named ‘Fe-Fe’
It’s about the gossip you spread about
Your neighbor ‘Adam’ and how
Secretly your best friend likes him

Now tell me, have you calmed down?
Or are you still making up excuses
To finish the poem? I prefer you do the second choice
I’ll simply finish by stating one-more-thing
Life is about reading poetry
Created by some, random kid
That you will probably never meet
And for those of you who don’t
Know what I am-simply a poet

That was probbaly one of the truest poems I've ever read. I truly love it. Excellent job, I really admire everything you put into the poem. And your insights are definently true about life, I've been thinking about those for a long time, like how everythings pointless, yet not. Amazing poem.
