A Change Of View Poem by Matthew Holloway

A Change Of View

I used to be an optimist
Not now, things change
I used to greet each day
With a smile, a laugh
Time can be a cruel mistress
Can wear you down
Place weights upon you
And the people
The lies, game plays
The falsehood of character
It changes you, eventually
Makes you view the world
Differently
I've said I used to be an optimist
That's now gone
I've changed since
Maybe it's not for the better
