A Christmas Day Prayer A Little Late Poem by Mary Angela Douglas

A Christmas Day Prayer A Little Late

I can see You have lit the candles of your stars
far above the snows.
dark blue is the night

so that I would want ribbons to match
if I were younger.
and a dress

in paler blue embroidered.
now I want only rest.
cessation of pain.

a single hearted dream
where

the rains came:
melting the snows
ahead of Spring.

I've told You everything now.
