A Cold Morning Poem by Rick Elpers

A Cold Morning

Rating: 5.0

I awaken and find
Aloneness seemingly not to matter
To see that my desire has waned
Into apathetic meandering
About what only God knows
Curiously wondering if He cares
As is proclaimed by believers
Or is it just wishful thinking
That my life be the clay
With which God molds these
Sensibilities with grace
Even though accepting with grace
Is every effort that I have
To move onward
Even though hope peppered
With doubt still holds out
To the finish
To the end of time
Welcome to the day
