A Contrast Poem by RIC BASTASA

A Contrast

outside there is this old brown short dog barking
to a stranger

three motorbikes are making a lot of noise
on the city street
some children, one bigger than the other two small children
look like they are quarelling over some toys

the trees ligning the road are pruned and some stacks
of leaves are left to dry
on this hot noonday

then a brownout: the computer shuts down
blipping and blipping for a warning to save
