A Conversation - Poem by Srisharavanan Thanabalasingam

A Stranger?
Am I really?

A Foreigner?
No, how can I be?

My Skin Colour?
Does it matter?

My language?
Don’t we speak the same?

My parents?
Oh, they wouldn’t understand.

I was born here.

I’m a citizen.

I have rights.

We’re equal here.

I blame my naivety.

My home?
Where is my home?

Who am I really?
