A Coup Failed Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

A Coup Failed

A coup failed

"Shoot me right in the heart."
Said the man named ‘Kazar'.
"Take me to shooting range; no blind."
He was firm taught lessons:
"As rebel I foresaw win and loss."
Guardians were sponge
Minds absorbed and faces
Had to forge ‘pretend'
The scene was masterpiece
Such great work, painting
Copy of Oscar Wilde's
"I'm a man; and like man, I stand..."
One could hear the marching
Six soldiers under guns;
Fire-Squad
"Tell those men to aim well.
Shoot me right in the chest."
His hands tied on his back
No blinds on his eyes
Nazem fell on the ground
A coup failed in Iraq;
‘In the time of Saddam'
