A Cry From Inside Poem by Brian Matico

A Cry From Inside

What does one do—
when passion suddenly wanes?
Where once it waxed fervently—
on unspoiled prolific plains
Time bolsters bonds—
or that’s what we’re told
But your affection of late-
appears I no longer hold
Where have you been—
just where did you go
What once was well-known
I find harder to know
I look in your eyes—
they well up with tears
I am lost on inside—
and repressing my fears
We once shared a life—
Thinking of it as a dream
Now wide awake—
we search for chance gleam
Has it left us forever—
has it eternally all gone away?
Or is it just waiting—
to be summoned to delay?
